A Detailed Guide On How To Reset Cadillac XTS Air Suspension

Please note that resetting your Cadillac XTS air suspension can be done in two ways. The first one involves disconnecting your vehicle’s battery, and the other step is milder and more recommendable (we highly recommend the latter).

And if, in the end, you need to replace your Cadillac XTS air suspension with a new one, check out our catalog at Vigor Airride to get a replacement without hassle..

Method One

  • Find your battery’s negative terminal
  • Take the negative cable off the terminal
  • Leave the cable disconnected for a minute
  • Take the negative cable and reconnect it to the terminal

Normally, disconnecting your battery would do the trick, but it may leave you with many things to reset since it resets the entire car system. Nonetheless, you can give it a try. If this works, then there is no need to try the other method. But if it doesn’t, you can always try the alternative steps below.

Method Two

  • Turn off the ignition.

This first step is dependent on the following steps. So, turn off your car’s ignition and move on to the next steps below.

  • Turn off the air suspension switch.

The air suspension switch is found in the vehicle's trunk or on the passenger side footwell. Once you have located the air suspension switch, you can turn it off.

  • Let the air out

You have to allow the air suspension to release all the air from the shocks.

  • Turn the air suspension switch back on

Do not turn the switch back on if all the air in the shocks has not been let out. Once the air is out, proceed to turn the air suspension switch back on.

  • Drive around

This drive is to monitor your vehicle so that you can know if the air suspension was rightly reset.

And that’s how the Cadillac XTS air suspension reset is done. Easy-peasy, right? Right. But note that if you couldn’t see improvements after the reset or notice other air suspension problems, you can seek professional help.

How Does The Cadillac ATS Air Suspension Work?

The air suspension in the Cadillac ATS is called the Automatic Level Control Rear Air Springs, introduced in 2013.

This Cadillac suspension works via the suspension compressor connected to the air springs. These allow the vehicle to maintain a stable position as regards ride height on the road. When in perfect shape, the system also guarantees firm handling and quiet bump-free drives.

You need to turn on the vehicle's ignition to get the air suspension system working on the Cadillac XTS air suspension. With the engine running, the vehicle can adjust the ride height, and when the ignition is turned off, it could take approximately ten minutes to automatically lower the ride height. In the end, the air adaptive suspension system in the Cadillac XTS works for improved ride quality, fuel economy, and comfort.

How to Troubleshoot Cadillac Deville Air Ride Suspension

As a Cadillac Deville user, you should know that your air ride suspension may develop some problems over time. If this happens, you don’t need to worry. It’s only a normal occurrence. So, here are some common ways to troubleshoot and find out what’s wrong with your Cadillac Deville air suspension.

  • Examine the fuse

The fuse holds the air-ride suspension system together. So, it is possible that when your Cadillac Deville acts up, it could be because the fuse is blown. Ensure you check the fuse and replace it when it’s blown up.

  • Check the air compressor.

The vehicle's air compressor provides air to the vehicle's suspension system. When this part is faulty, there is a huge chance that the system may not function at all. So, it will have to be replaced.

  • Inspect the airbags

If there is a problem with one of the airbags, you will notice leakages. So, since this part provides maximum support to the vehicle, you must inspect them whenever the air suspension system is faulty. In case of leaks or damage, you will need to replace them.

  • Inspect the controller

When the controller is not receiving enough power or is well connected, it can affect the entire air ride suspension system. So, check that it gets power and is adequately connected.

  • Check for leaks

When there are leakages, the air suspension system begins to act up. So, ensure you check the shocks and other parts for leakages.

  • Inspect the air lines

The air lines join the air compressor to the air suspension system. When the air lines are not securely connected, they can let out air, and this can adversely affect the air suspension system. So, check the air lines for leaks to ensure the air doesn't go out.

  • Check the sensors

The main role of the sensors is to activate the air suspension system when the vehicle's ground level has been identified. The sensors help detect and start the air suspension system if the car is low to the ground. Once even one of the sensors is not correctly working, the suspension system may malfunction. So, check your sensors.

The thing with the air suspension system is that once one of the parts becomes faulty, the entire system may begin to act up. So, whenever there is a problem with the air suspension parts, fix it or replace it as soon as possible.

How To Release Air Ride Suspension On 2004 Cadillac Deville

Releasing the air ride suspension on the 2004 Cadillac Deville is not so difficult. Still, you would have to take precautionary measures since the air suspension system is used with high pressure. But if you don’t seem to get the hang of it after attempting to release the air ride suspension, go to a mechanic as soon as possible.

So, to release the air ride suspension on a 2004 Cadillac Deville,

  • Start by lifting the car with a jack and jack stands. You must be extremely careful when lifting the vehicles to ensure they are securely placed on the jack stands.
  • After that, remove the wheels and start disassembling the struts.
  • You can now go on to completely depressurize the strut to zero PSI with the help of the controller so that you can loosen the bolts completely out.
  • Finally, you can take the suspension compressor, airbags, air tank, and other parts of the air suspension system out.

Where Is The Suspension Air Pump On 2003 Cadillac Seville

The air pump on the 2003 Cadillac Seville can be found under the air filter. To find it, you will have to raise the vehicle with a vehicle lift or a jack. If you are using the hydraulic jack, you will need to place the Cadillac Seville firmly on the jack stands to prevent it from falling on you. Once that is settled, search for the air filter on the passenger side. That's where the air pump is located.

I have a 2014 XTS. I have an issue with suspension system. Recently I had both back shocks replaced, per dealership, after they performed diagnostic test, I am still getting a non-stable ride, thumping sound under car as I run over bumps. Seems as if i feel all bumps and it feels like the car is bottoming up. My compressor comes on and shuts off. Help
